Finish Your Degree Online at OU

Life often gets in the way of a degree. A job, a family, military service or a move can put college on hold, and the credits you earned sit unused. OU Online helps you pick up where you left off.

These programs are designed for adults with some college and no degree, associate degree holders, service members and veterans, and registered nurses pursuing a BSN. Courses are fully online, so you can study around work and family. You’ll earn the same University of Oklahoma degree as on-campus students.

Degree Completion Programs for Adults

Unlike traditional admissions, these programs look at where you are now. The BS in Business Administration, BS in Healthcare Management, BS in Construction Management and BS in Integrative Studies require 60 or more college credit hours. Applicants must also be 25 or older or out of high school for at least five years. Other programs, such as the BS in Organizational Leadership and BS in Criminal Justice, require as few as 24 credit hours.

Already Have an Associate Degree?

You may be closer to a bachelor’s degree than you think. An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science from an accredited Oklahoma college may satisfy OU’s general education requirements, including math and foreign language. Associate degrees from other states, and applied science associate degrees, are reviewed course by course.

Registered nurses with an associate degree or to diploma in nursing can complete their bachelor’s degree online through our RN BSN program.

How Does Transferring Credits to OU Online Work?

Transfer credit policies vary from school to school, so the details matter. At OU, credits from accredited institutions can count toward your degree. We’ll walk you through each step:

  1. Send your official transcripts from every college you’ve attended.
  2. Receive your transfer credit evaluation.
  3. Apply, enroll and start your first course.

For a deeper look, read our guide on how transfer credit works at OU.

What Is a Transfer Credit Evaluation?

A transfer credit evaluation compares your past coursework to your OU degree requirements. We will review your official transcripts and show you which courses transfer, where they apply, and what’s left to complete. Request your evaluation before you enroll so you know your path to graduation from day one.

How Many Credits Can I Transfer?

You can transfer up to 90 credit hours toward your OU Online bachelor’s degree. The minimum you need to apply depends on the program: some start at 24 credit hours, others at 60. Credits from dual or concurrent enrollment earned in high school don’t count toward that minimum.

Can Military Service or Work Experience Count for Credit?

It can. OU evaluates military training and experience, as well as law enforcement training, for possible academic credit. Credit for prior learning, including some job experience, may also apply toward your degree. We will review your records as part of your evaluation.
