The master’s in Natural Gas Engineering and Management offers a comprehensive overview of key topics in the industry. The engineering track focuses on the expertise needed to advance in a technical career. The management track helps professionals who want to attain leadership positions learn about the benefits of natural gas as a clean fuel with minimal environmental impact. The program consists of three core courses. The remaining electives will be chosen based on which track you choose.
*Students will choose an additional 21 hours of coursework in consultation with the student’s advisor to meet concentration goals.
You’ll earn 30 credit hours across 10 courses, taking two courses each semester. Spring and Fall semester courses run for 16 weeks, while Summer semester courses run for 14 weeks. Global natural gas supply and demand, international gas trade and infrastructure, gas policy, regulation, safety and environmental issues, natural gas resource base: conventional and unconventional, gas exploration, drilling and production, gas processing, storage and pipeline, gas trading and marketing, gas utilization, LNG, chemicals.

This course exposes students to basic concepts and practices of risk management in the natural gas industry. Topics include basic structure of the gas physical and financial markets, derivatives, hedging strategies, futures and forward price determination, option pricing theories, value at risk and market fundamental and technical analyses. The emphasis of the course will be on the application of the basis financial risk management theories to the natural gas industry.

This course exposes students to basic concepts and practices of valuation and investment in the natural gas industry. Topics include accounting systems, financial statement analysis, valuation of company stocks, competitive comparisons, value of reserves in the ground, corporate restructuring, legal and tax environment for mergers, valuation of bonds and preferred stocks. The emphasis of the course will be on the application of the basis financial theories of valuation and investment on the natural gas industry.

A nonrefundable deposit of $350 is required upon admission to secure your place in the program. This deposit guarantees your spot in your first semester of courses and will be applied toward your first semester’s tuition.
* Please be aware that tuition and fees may change, as determined by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.
You can transfer up to 12 credit hours of graduate-level coursework, as per Graduate College policy, with the approval of the department. Transferred credit cannot be previously applied to any completed degree and must be less than five years old. You must also provide a syllabus for each course.
